Pakistan in November last handed over 27 individuals to Afghanistan who were suspected of having links with Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network, Foreign Office said on Tuesday. Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal, in an apparent response to the US and Afghan allegations in the wake of a series of terror attack in Kabul, took to the Twitter to dismiss the allegations.

"Pakistan continues to push any suspected TTA [Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan] & HN [Haqqani network] elements to prevent them from using our soil for any terrorist activity in Afghanistan," he tweeted. In this context, he stated that 27 individuals suspected of belonging to TTA and HN have been handed over to Afghanistan in November 2017.

He also went on to recount the sacrifices Pakistan has rendered in the war against terrorism both in the terms of human and economic losses. "Pakistan has sacrificed 75,000 civilians and 6,000 soldiers to the scourge of terrorism (we have one of the highest officer-to-soldier casualty rate globally) and suffered economic losses worth US $123 billion," he stated in another tweet.

The Foreign Office spokesperson's comments came following US President Donald Trump's rejection of peace talks with Taliban. Talking to reporters at the White House on Monday, Trump condemned the Taliban for the recent carnage in Kabul and said the United States was not prepared to talk now. He pledged to "finish what we have to finish."

This was followed by comments from the spokesperson for Afghan Presidential Palace endorsing Trump's point of view. "The Taliban have crossed a red line and lost the chance for peace," the Spokesperson for Presidential Palace Shah Hussain Murtazawi was quoted by the Afghan media as having said in a statement.
